Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you are spending time with your friends and family. I'm hanging out with my parents and little sister today. Yesterday, the queens went to the George R. Brown Convention Center to serve food at the annual SuperFeast. We met a lot of wonderful people there and I want to thank Duc Nguyen for allowing us to participate.

Busy Day!!!

On Monday, December 21st we had a big day planned. In the morning our group of queens headed to MD Anderson Hospital to visit some of the pediatric patients. Because I'm not 18 I had to stay in the lobby but I was able to greet people, hand out candy and sign some autographs.
From there we headed over to Michaelyndon Salon for hair and makeup with Lindsey and Aubrey. They made us look so glamourous!!! We had a photo shoot with Erik Xydis in the Galleria area and I can't wait to see the pictures.

To finish out our day we had dinner with the Mini Miss Queens and the Lone Star Princesses at the Cheesecake Factory. Alison is one of our princesses and will also begin her MAOT experience in 2010. Good luck Alison!!!!

Miss Southeast Texas Pageant

What a great weekend! First, I attended the Miss Southeast Texas Pageant. It was a great event and I was rooting on my friends who were competing. Lots of amazing talent on display from singing, to dancing to piano playing. Hope Wetter was crowned Teen Miss Southeast Texas and Erin Nipper is now Miss Southeast Texas.

A huge bonus was that I was able to spend some time with Miss Texas, Kristen Blair. Kristen will compete at the Miss America Pageant next month. She is so genuine as well as beautiful and a powerful singer. She had a lot of great advice and I really appreciate meeting her. I hope everyone will be watching her compete for the crown on January 30! Go Texas!!!!

Sakowitz Furs!

Sakowitz Furs is a generous sponsor of the Miss Houston/Miss Teen Houston pageant and they provided each of our queens with a gorgeous fur coat. During the holidays we have been going into the store to greet customers in our crowns. They let us wear a different coat each time so it is a lot of fun. The staff are so sweet to us and I am in love with the reversible full-length coat I wore last weekend. I also like the lynx jacket I wore on my first visit.

Miss Woodlands Pageant

One of the sponsors for the Miss Houston/Miss Teen Houston pageant is hair services from Michael Lyndon Salon in the Galleria area. I went to Lindsey at the salon and she gave me an adorable cut and color. She's an artist. Thank you!

On November 28, I headed to The Woodlands to watch their preliminary pageant. Quite a few visiting queens were there to cheer on the contestants. It was tough competition but Meghan Miller and Ali York won the titles of Miss Woodlands and Miss Teen Woodlands. They are extremely talented and well-spoken ladies.

Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving started bright and early at 6AM in downtown Houston. I joined my little sister as she was getting ready for the Houston Thanksgiving parade with her dance studio "DanceZone". Then I was able to ride in the parade in a cute Beetle along with Miss Houston and Miss Harris County. Sitting in the front seat, I had the heater blowing at my feet because it was a pretty cold morning! It was a blast seeing all the people who came out to watch the parade.

After the parade ended, we went to the George R. Brown Convention Center to help serve food at the Superfeast. It was a privilege for me to participate with all of the local queens.

2010 Miss Teen Houston

Wow! I can't believe that I was crowned the 2010 Miss Teen Houston! Everything has been a blur since the pageant on November 14th, but I thought it would be a good idea to share my experiences over the next year. And what an incredible experience it has been so far!

The pageant was held at Cy Lakes High School on November 14, 2009. Teens competed in interview, fitness wear, talent, formalwear and onstage question. There were 15 incredibly beautiful and talented teens. The girls were so sweet to each other backstage and although it was a long day, the time flew by.

At the end of the night, I was crowned Miss Teen Houston along with Rachel Warner, Miss Teen Harris County and Kate Samuelson, Miss Teen Sugar Land. The older girls competed at the same time and Candice Bennatt was crowned Miss Houston with Ruthie Bram crowned as Miss Harris County. I am thrilled to be able to spend the next year with these ladies!!!
